We’re not like other gap year consultants and programs.

We believe that gap years aren’t just for students with enough financial resources to afford them.

Our mission evolved from the belief that gap years should be a viable option for everyone.

  • We believe that democratizing gap years will improve the path to college for students and, in the long run, address the ongoing crisis of diminishing enrollment and rising drop-out rates in higher education.

  • At the gap year project, we believe gap years unlock vast potential, like the potential for students to discover their strengths and passions. They also unlock the potential for students to lighten the financial burden of college for their families.

  • By working and saving money for college, students can leverage their gap year and become part of the solution to the affordability dilemma. For some, earning money during a gap year finally brings a college education within reach.

We’re not reinventing gap years. Instead, we’re approaching gap years in a new way, by shifting the focus from traditional hands-on, experiential learning to a wider range of choices that specifically include work and credit for classes. With our roadmap, students build life skills while also earning income and transferable credit, to ultimately gain a significant advantage for college.

Like a trusted advisor, we provide guidance and support along the way, so students can make choices that are tailored to their specific needs and circumstances.
